Student Government

Here are some videos I’ve made for Student Government. I served on the Public Relations Committee for all three of my terms as a senator, one year as chair and one year as vice-chair. I lead the creation of the Student Government YouTube channel with the help of my committee at the time, and produced the majority of our content in my time there as well.

One video was a fun spin on the MTV show Cribs. Our goal was to show students where our office was and encourage them to visit in a comedic, digestible and new way.

Here we take you through a tour of our office. There isn’t much out of the ordinary here.

I helped the Student Health & Wellness Commission produce a nine-part video series for Mental Health Awareness Week, which was a great example of cabinet and senate working directly together. Our goal was to shed light on a variety of mental health issues, clear up misconceptions and provide resources for students who may need them. Here are just a few.

One project Student Government took on was the implementation of the tree of oppression. A project to show the unique and marginalized identities of students on campus. Vice-President Juan Bibiloni speaks about the project in the following video.

This video was the first video released on our YouTube Channel. A fun little time lapse of Sen. Rankin and myself handing out fliers to promote our Town Hall meeting.

I’ve also volunteered for four Student Government campaign teams and produced videos for three of them. I played a significant role in the strategic planning and execution for these videos in addition to fully producing them.

The idea we wanted to convey with this video is that students are more than their stereotyped identities, and that the Codys were the right choice to serve as their voice to administration.
I also produced a blooper reel for this campaign. Our goal was to show the real side of the Codys, which may not often come across in tense or professional settings, so that students can better relate to and connect with them. It was pretty fun to make, too.
I like to produce videos that allow the audience to connect with the subjects on a more personal level. To achieve this goal for the Cody & Analese Campaign (there’s a lot of Codys), we decided to do a fun Q&A session.
The final campaign I helped with was the Greene & Hanyang Campaign. This video took a testimonial route to illustrate the goals as well as genuine passion of Lyda & Josh.
